About

NOW INTRODUCING *cues drum roll* Hannah!

That was totally lame and I will probably delete that once I come up with a different and more clever way of introducing myself.

Anyhow, I am 19 years old, and a sophomore in college.

(there’s a picture of me doing one of my favorite things- tanning on the beach!)

I partake in arguably one of the craziest sports out there: cross country (and of course track and field).
…seriously. It’s insane sometimes.

(pictured above is what I like to call my “cross country face”)

I started running seriously when I was 16 and a junior in high school. Little did I know I would continue on to run collegiately at a D2 school and eventually become an all-conference, all-region, and all-American runner.

(there’s me on one of the best days of my life with my All-American medal!)

Running changed my life and shaped me in to the person I am today, which I am sure I write enough about on this blog. I’ve had a some great success running collegiately, but it wasn’t always that way. Throughout high school I trained diligently, quietly, waiting to come in to my senior year and tear up the cross country course. My summers were spent waking up at 5:30 am every day to beat the heat and pound out 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and even 15 mile runs. The workouts I created for myself were brutal (I would not even think of doing them now). Naturally I thought the harder I worked, the better I would be. I was so terribly wrong, though. Running is weird in the sense that sometimes overworking is worse than underworking. So despite my endless efforts to become great, I watched my dreams deteriorate before my eyes.

Eventually I saw a doctor and found out I was dealing with iron levels that were so low I was actually anemic (another thing I am sure you read plenty about on this blog.)

I have slowly but surely learned a lot about taking care of and respecting my body. You cannot demand your body to do such extreme tasks without giving it the nourishment and rest that it so badly needs.

So here’s to me and here’s to my ongoing journey to love and accept the body I am in while working my hardest to be as fast as I possibly can. And here’s to recognizing that I am not just “Hannah the runner”. I am Hannah the writer, Hannah the friend, Hannah the daughter, Hannah the nature lover, Hannah the reader, Hannah the one who is weirdly obsessed with sting rays.

(okay one last picture of the day I got to swim with sting rays… I’m not kidding here I really love them)

Keep pushing forward.♥
